His Aquinas: A Beginner's Guide is the non-polemical version of The Last Superstition. But he recognized that polemics may put off some people, and as a result sort of wrote two versions of the book. As for the attacks on Dawkins etc, they are somewhat justified because these people focus their attacks on a lot of irrelevant stuff. He argues that it should be re-embraced because it is the only way to make sense of the world around us: how our minds work, how efficient causation works, how evolution works, and so on. He doesn't argue that Aristotle's theory of causation should be re-embraced because it makes Aquinas tenable again. Thomism and other ancient theistic philosophies are, IMO, on much firmer ground or at least will give you a good challenge. It stands apart from modern pop Christian apologetics, which I think are pretty weak and atheists are (somewhat) correct to poke fun at them. Yes, Feser's book is very interesting and one of the best books defending theism of recent years.
